Purpose
Dermatologic Therapy is a bimonthly journal. Each issue consists of a series of scholarly review articles focusing on either the treatment of a specific disease or the clinical application of a specific therapy or related group of therapeutic agents. The main purpose of this journal is to fill a void in the dermatologic literature in which experts describe very specifically how they treat a specific condition or use a particular medication. This information should be so practical that the reader can directly apply the information to clinical situations. Because of the specific and practical nature of the information contained in each issue, it is anticipated that, over time, this publication can serve as an evolving therapeutic textbook for dermatology.

General information
Authors submitting a paper do so on the understanding that the work has not been published before, is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has been read and approved by all authors. The submission of the manuscript by the authors means that the authors automatically agree to assign exclusive copyright to Blackwell Science, Inc. This work shall not be published elsewhere in any language without the written consent of the publisher. The articles published in this journal are protected by copyright, which covers translation rights and the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute all of the articles printed in the journal. As a result of the present U.S. copyright law, effective January 1, 1978, each contributor of a submitted manuscript must sign a statement expressly transferring copyright. The guest editor will send a copyright transfer form to the corresponding author of each manuscript. Alternatively, the copyright assignment form for the journal can be found at the following link: DTH Copyright Assignment Form.

In 2008 there are two new features where Authors can contribute papers: Therapeutic Hotline and the Supplement Series. All other articles for each regular issue of Dermatologic Therapy are by invitation from the guest editor, who is selected by the Editorial Board of Dermatologic Therapy. All articles should be submitted in English.

The new features in 2008 where Authors can submit papers are listed below:

Therapeutic Hotline
Authors submitting a paper to the Therapeutic Hotline will provide readers with key information on new therapies. The section will consist of letters of no more than 1000 words and ten references and short concentrated papers consisting of up to eight typed pages with references. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts to Dr. Torello Lotti, Editor of the Therapeutic Hotline at: torello.lotti@unifi.it.

Supplement Series
Authors submitting to the Supplement Series will provide information on the treatment of cutaneous diseases. Each issue will include 6-10 articles of approximately 8-10 pages in length. Authors should submit their manuscript to Dr. Torello Lotti, Editor of the Supplement Series at: torello.lotti@unifi.it.

Manuscripts
Send your manuscript to the guest editor on one newly formatted 3.5-inch floppy disk; 2 printed, double-spaced copies, including figures and tables, must accompany the disk. The paper manuscript and the file on the disk must be the same. The manuscript should be double-spaced on one side of the paper with one-inch margins. The first page should contain the title and authors' names, telephone and telefax numbers and email address, as well as full postal address. Each paper should consist of an introduction, in-depth discussion, and conclusion. Completed manuscripts should be submitted to the guest editor for review prior to the agreed deadline. Please note that Word 2007 is not yet compatible with journal production systems. Unfortunately, the journal cannot accept Microsoft Word 2007 documents until such time as a stable production version is released. Therefore, please use Word's 'Save As' option to save your document as an older (.doc) file type.

Headings
Use no more than 3 levels of headings, clearly indicating the level of each.

References
Arrange the reference list in numerical order based on the order in which they appear in the text. Include only references cited in the text. Check that the text citations correspond exactly with the reference list. Verify the references against the original documents. Include only manuscripts accepted but not yet published (in press). Do not include unpublished material that has not been accepted for publication or personal communications. (They may be cited in parentheses in the text.) Abbreviate journal titles in accordance with Index Medicus and the international list of periodical title word abbreviations (ISO 833). Include the names of all authors if six or fewer. If more than six, then list only the first three and et al.

Illustrations
The journal encourages the use of figures (abbreviated Fig.) to enhance the text. Figures should be submitted in color if possible. Authors should submit clear figures to the guest editor who will pass them on to the publisher. For photographs of recognizable people, submit a signed release form from the patient authorizing publication, otherwise all eyes will be blacked out. Photomicrographs must have internal scale markers.

There are three preferred formats for digital artwork submission: Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), Portable Document Format (PDF), and Tagged Image Format (TIFF). We suggest that line art be saved as EPS files. Alternately, these may be saved as PDF files at 600 dots per inch (dpi) or better at final size. Tone art, or photographic images, should be saved as TIFF files with a resolution of 300 dpi at final size. For combination figures, or artwork that contains both photographs and labeling, we recommend saving figures as EPS files, or as PDF files with a resolution of 600 dpi or better at final size. More detailed information on the submission of electronic artwork can be found at www.blackwellpublishing.com/authors/digill.asp.

Style
Use generic names wherever possible; capitalize trade names and include the manufacturer. For names of chemicals, a trivial name may be used if the formal chemical name is given with the first use of the trivial name. Abbreviations should be kept to a minimum. Use an appropriate abbreviation only if it appears at least five times in the text.

Proofs
Proofs should be returned by email or fax. Only minor changes are permitted.

Pursuant to NIH mandate, Wiley-Blackwell will post the accepted version of contributions authored by NIH grant-holders to PubMed Central upon acceptance. This accepted version will be made publicly available 12 months after publication. For further information, see www.wiley.com/go/nihmandate.
