INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS
Journal Information
All Le Jacq journals are peer-reviewed, controlled circulation journals. With the exception of the new Journal of the CardioMetabolic Syndrome, which premiered in March 2006, all Le Jacq journals are indexed on Index Medicus and available online at MEDLINE, with related articles at MEDSCAPE. For details on the individual journals, please visit the Journal pages at www.lejacq.com.
All manuscripts for all journals must be submitted by the corresponding author online at www.lejacq.com/submit; please do not mail, e-mail, or fax manuscripts. All manuscripts must be written in English and relate to human conditions, and all authors must hold a professional medical or allied health degree.
The following items must be included in every electronic submission; it is recommended that the corresponding author assemble all items prior to the online submission process:
- Title
- All author contact information
- Keywords
- Information on any invitation/request to submit the manuscript
- Authority from all authors for the corresponding author to commit to all requirements for copyright transfer, when applicable
- Permissions in writing from the copyright holder for any tables, figures, images, and illustrations used in the manuscript (will be requested by publisher following peer review if the manuscript is accepted for publication)
- Document in Microsoft Word, including all references

Artwork Information
All artwork is subject to review and approval by Art Director; nonconforming artwork may be subject to additional graphic design charges at the rate of $75 per image. Detailed guidelines, including samples, are available in our Figure Submission Standards.
The following guidelines apply to all artwork submissions:
- Each piece of artwork must be accompanied by a legend and cited in the body of the manuscript.
- Photographs of patients must be accompanied by an original letter of consent executed by such patient (to the extent the identity of the patient can be hidden effectively, such consent will not be necessary).
- Electronic artwork must be AT LEAST 300 dpi at publication size (bitmap) OR be resolution independent (vector). Bitmap artwork should be submitted in .tif, .pict, or .psd formats. Vector artwork should be submitted in .eps, .pict, or .wmf format.
NOTE: .jpgs and .gifs are not acceptable formats for electronic submission of figures. - Author must provide permissions in writing for all Tables, Figures, Images, and Illustrations that are not original to the author or the copyright cannot be transferred (adaptations or reprintings from a published source). NOTE: Publisher is not responsible for obtaining permissions.
Additional Requirements
- Statement of Financial Disclosure:
Should be listed at the end of the manuscript and include specifics on financial or proprietary interest in the subject matter or materials discussed in the manuscript, e.g., employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria. All funding or financial support for the paper received through grants or sponsorship must also be provided here. - Acknowledgments:
Should be listed at the end of the manuscript and include all relevant information (full names of institutions, companies, and individuals with academic degrees). The author is solely responsible for obtaining written permission from those acknowledged and providing them to publisher upon request. - References:
Strict adherence to AMA Style Guide, 9th Edition (Williams and Wilkins; 1998), Section 2.12 - References. Cite references numerically in text (do not use letters); cite unpublished material and personal communications directly in the body of the manuscript and not in the reference list. References should be listed at the end of the manuscript and not in footnote form. The author is solely responsible for the accuracy of references and their use with respect to the supported text. - All tables must be created and submitted in Microsoft Word format using the Tables menu to correctly place all data in appropriate cells.
- Pharmaceuticals:
Drugs and devices should be referenced by generic name and not by trademark to the extent appropriate. - Acronyms:
Acronyms not otherwise listed in the AMA Style Guide should be spelled out within the body of text the first time used.
