Software Requirements
In order to view some of the material on this page, you will need additional software.

For the PowerPoint slides, you will need Microsoft's PowerPoint Viewer. You may download either the Windows version (Windows 3.x; and 95), or the Macintosh version.

For material marked "PDF files", you will need the Adobe Acrobat Viewer. If you have not already obtained this viewer, then you may download it now from Adobe Systems, Inc.
PDF Printing
When printing COBOL pages that have been downloaded from any of the PDF files below, keep in mind that all printers are not created equal, and that the quality of your printout will depend on the quality of your printer.

Text that is in color may not print as clearly as black text on a laser printer, for example, unless you have a color laser printer.

The COBOL pages are, however, clearly readable on most color monitors.

Advanced Topics:
Based on responses to an extensive survey we conducted, most users preferred a streamlined version of COBOL with some of the very advanced topics omitted. The three topics that were condensed are: 1)multiple level arrays and tables, 2) advanced indexed file processing, 3) advanced relative file processing. For those of you who would like additional information on these topics, the following downloads are available. (Acrobat Viewer needed for all files below)

Multiple Level Arrays and Tables (multile.pdf, 410k)

Advanced Indexed File Processing (indexed.pdf, 257k)

Advanced Relative File Processing (relativ.pdf, 293k)
