[4.11] Hard/Soft Copy Output
- Hard Copy -- recording letters,
graphics, or pictures
on a permanent medium, such as paper or film. Examples include
printing,
drawing lines with a plotter,
or photographically recording an
impression on film or microfilm.
- Soft Copy -- using electronic signals to display a
temporary image on a surface such as a video CRT screen. Although
this may seem to be a limitation, the image can quickly be changed,
as in the case of graphic animation, to create movement.
