[5.15] Software Hazards
- Computer virus -- a software time bomb that may
destroy computer files unless eradicated with a virus
checker. Often spread by pirated software or from computer
files downloaded from a bulletin board.
- Trojan horse -- a logic bomb hidden in a legitimate
program that may be doing harm during normal operation of the
host software.
- Worm -- a program that reproduces itself and
worms its way into alien operating systems.
- Software piracy -- unauthorized copying of
copyrighted software, a common kind of white-collar computer
theft.
