• Was originally invented by Dan Bricklin and Robert Frankston.

• Represents data in a row-and-column format.

• Lets you manipulate numbers like an electronic ledger sheet.

• If a number changes in one element of a spreadsheet, called a cell, calculations elsewhere that depend on it are refigured automatically.
