[9.6] Color Output on a Graphics Screen

Color monitors like color TV screens are equipped with an RGB (red-green-blue) video board to produce color images. Combinations of signals for these three additive primary colors compose colors on RGB monitors. An 8-bit code for RGB signals can produce 256 colors, since 28 = 256.
