Q) Which are the best system configurations for viewing this site?
A) The following are recommendations based on testing we have done with the site. We recommend that you review this list to see which browser/configuration combination works best for you.

    Windows NT
Internet Explorer 4 gave the best performance on this platform, surpassing Netscape. AOL is non-compatible with this platform.

    Windows 95
Netscape 4.61 is the browser of choice on this platform on either laptop or desktop computers. We also recommend AOL 5 for AOL users, although AOL 4 seems to be as effective.

    Windows 98
We recommend Netscape 4.61 for 98 platforms. However, Internet Explorer 5, or AOL 5 are comparable.

    PowerMac
We recommend Netscape 4.7, Internet Explorer 4.5 or AOL 4.

    iMac
Either Netscape 4.5 or Internet Explorer 4.5 would be recommended on this platform. AOL 4 should be the browser of choice for AOL users.

Q) I'm having problems installing Shockwave, where can I get help?
A) If your browser does not have an automatic installation control for Shockwave, you will have to install it yourself after downloading. Here's how it works:
  1. Quit your browser.
  2. Double-click the Shockwave Installer icon. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
  3. Relaunch your browser.
In addition, Macromedia has a fairly extensive help section. If you're having trouble getting Shockwave Player to function correctly visit the troubleshooting section for Shockwave Player: http://www.macromedia.com/support/shockwave/installation/

Q) I pressed BACKSPACE and suddenly the quiz disappeared, or reloded itself! I'm using Internet Explorer.
A) Some versions of Internet Explorer has a strange feature which makes the backspace key act as if you'd pressed the "back" button on your browser. It's an annoying feature considering that you usually use the backspace key to delete things -- however, there is nothing we can do about it. Macromedia and several other companies have already asked Microsoft to remove that feature as it causes problems with online forms, games, and chatrooms. Hopefully Microsoft will fix it soon, but until then, make sure you only press the backspace key when you're answering a "fill in" question.

Quiz Help

Q) Sometimes the "Back" button on the animations doesn't seem to work when I try to exit an animation.
A) Some browsers have trouble switching back and forth between the animation and the quiz. The easiest solution is to simply close the animation window and return to the quiz.

Q) Do the fill in questions require me to spell the answer correctly?
A) Yes, the quiz recognizes answers as correct only if they are spelled correctly. However, there are often more than one correct answer (all correct answers will be listed in the rationale).

Q) Sometimes when I press the "next" button or the "back" button during the quiz it will skip a few questions. Why is that?
A) Do not double-click the "next" or "back" buttons, only click on these buttons once to use them. If you double-click these buttons you might skip a question. In addition, you may wish to check your quiz after you've finished it as unanswered are marked as incorrect.
