Slide 11: One of the three main peaks of Mount Kenya. The highest point is 17,058 feet above sea-level. All three peaks, Batian, Nelion and Lenana are remnant volcanic plugs exposed by erosion of the original crater rim of an ancient shield volcano. The entire complex is about 250 miles in circumference. Several small glaciers are found on the highest peak as well as a great diversity of unique plant and animal life at different altitudinal levels.
