Example 1. Constructing segments (with an introduction to labeling)
Click on the STRAIGHTEDGE TOOL, (you will notice that its icon is slightly lighter). Click on any place on the document (a red dot appears in version 4, whereas colors are not provided in older versions of the software) and then move the mouse to another place and click again. This action constructs the other endpoint of the segment. Construct at least five more segments before proceeding.
The TEXT TOOL (below the STRAIGHTEDGE TOOL) allows you to label the constructions you make. Select it and click on all the red dots.
You will notice that the software labels the endpoints in the order in which they are labeled indicated by letters of the alphabet. However in previous versions, the software labels the endpoints in the order in which they were constructed. (It is possible to use different labels than the ones produced by the software, but that subject will be discussed later.) Make sure that you click on the endpoints and not in the segments; otherwise you will obtain a label for the segment (a lower case letter) instead of a label for the vertices (a capital letter).
