Update

Whistle while you work

For nearly a decade, information technology has become increasingly pervasive in the workplace. Now, the workplace is finally beginning to adapt. In The New Workplace, Business Week’s Joan Hamilton describes how the "office of the future" is starting to take shape. With a heavy reliance on computer networks and other technologies, organizations are rethinking their spending on bricks and mortar. This more flexible workplace is detailed by Charles Fishman in his article in Fast Company, We’ve Seen the Future of Work. According to Fishman, people will no longer be tethered to their desks in tomorrow’s organizations. Information systems will be ubiquitous but, at the same time, transparent. These systems will be designed to emphasize group over individual work and will incorporate features like wall-sized video screens.
