Author Bios
John Poole is a Distinguished
Software Engineer at Hyperion Solutions Corporation. He is one of several
co-authors of the Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM) within the Object Management
Group (OMG) and currently leads CWM implementation efforts within Hyperion.
Mr. Poole is also the Specification Lead for the Java OLAP Interface (JSR-69)
technology effort within the Java Community Process. Mr. Poole has lectured
and written on meta data integration and modeling issues within the data
warehousing, business intelligence and OLAP domains. He holds a B.S. degree
in Applied Mathematics from Southern Connecticut State University, and an
M.S. degree in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University, New York.
Mr. Poole is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery.
Dan Chang is a member of the
Database Technology Institute at IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory. He led the
Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM) standardization effort within the Object
Management Group (OMG). Dr. Chang leads and coordinates the CWM implementation
efforts within IBM and with its business partners. He has lectured and written
on XML, Java, meta data, database, and object technologies. He is a co-author
of the Wiley book on "Client-Server Data Access in Java and XML." Dr. Chang
holds a Ph.D. degree in Computational Chemistry from the University of Chicago
and is a visiting professor at San Jose State University.
Doug Tolbert is a Consulting
Engineer at Unisys Corporation and represents Unisys on the Object Management
Group (OMG) Board of Directors. He is also co-chair of the CWM-RTF within
OMG and leads the CWM deployment efforts at Unisys. Dr. Tolbert is a specialist
in database management systems, application development environments and
related technologies. He has written and lectured on databases and meta
data at industry conferences and universities for over twenty years. He
holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis.
David Mellor is a Consulting
Engineer at Oracle Corporation. He has been working with Multidimensional
and Relational Technologies for Oracle for over 10 years. In that time he
has designed and developed a variety of products specializing in meta data,
server-side application design, and combining multidimensional and relational
technologies. Mr. Mellor represents Oracle as co-chair of the CWM-RTF in
the on-going development of the Common Warehouse Metamodel at OMG. Mr. Mellor
also represents Oracle on the Java OLAP Interface (JSR-69) technology effort
within the Java Community Process. He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical
and Computer Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo
and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Boston University. He is currently
an instructor at Boston University in the Metropolitan College of Computer
Science.
