About the Authors
Andreas Vogel
Andreas Vogel is a Strategic Technology Advisor with Inprise Corporation
since January 1997. In this position, he works with customers, mostly
Fortune 500 companies, on CORBA and EJB solutions for their distributed
computing needs, as well as in Inprise's research and development division.
In his two-plus years with Visigenic, Borland, and Inprise, Andreas has
been involved in more than 40 different projects spawning over almost
all industry sectors.
Prior to this appointment he worked as Principal Research Scientist with
the Distributed Systems Technology Centre (DSTC) in Brisbane, Australia
and as a Research Scientist for the University of Montreal, Canada. He
has worked on various topics in the area of distributed computing including
Formal Description Techniques, Distributed Middleware (DCE, CORBA, and
EJB), Distributed Multimedia, and Quality of Service.
Andreas regularly publishes and speaks on distributed computing topics.
He co-authored "Java Programming with CORBA", which is now in its
2nd edition, and "C++ Programming with CORBA". Andreas holds a PhD and
MSc in Computer Science from Humboldt-University at Berlin, Germany. Andreas
lives with his wife Dorit Hillmann and daughter Meta Hillmann in San Francisco
and enjoys cycling to the office in San Mateo.
Madhavan Rangarao
Madhavan Rangarao is a Senior Architect at TIBCO Software, a pioneer and
leading provider of Enterprise Application Integration and messaging middleware
system solutions. Prior to this appointment, he led the core development
effort of the Inprise ITS Object Transaction Service. While he was at
Sybase Inc., he was one of the key contributors to their distributed transaction
management strategy for the SQL Server. Madhavan has been developing distributed
transaction management system solutions for the past nine years and specializes
in CORBA-based distributed object computing.
He holds an MS in Computer Science from University of South Florida at
Tampa. He loves to tinker any electronic gadgets in his sight and enjoys
scenic photography.
