Take a quick tour through sample screens from Freshney's Culture of Animal Cells: A Multimedia Guide to see the variety of resources included on the CD. The Guide uses the popular Folio Views program to link together all the information you need to perform standard cell culture procedures. Click here to view the first screen.

The title screen introduces you to the Guide. From there you can select the Table of Contents screen, browse a help file or view information about the CD-ROM and the author. Next

THE GUIDE'S INTERFACE
Navigation, search, and viewing functions are performed through Folio Views' standard, easy-to-use interface. Buttons on the toolbar help you quickly find the information you want and customize the program with highlights and notes to mark important sections. Next

SEARCH NAVIGATION
Select the Query button to search for terms and then browse through the list of hits by clicking on search navigation buttons. Your searches are saved in a list for fast reference. Next

THE CONTENTS
The Table of Contents screen organizes the content into four main areas: Protocols, Main Text, Graphics, and Supplementary Material. Clicking on any of these will take you to an expanded table of contents for each section. Next

DETAILED CONTENT LISTS
The expandable table of contents gives you a detailed list of the subjects in each section. The resources in the sections are cross-linked for easy access to the information you need for each cell culture protocol. Next

PROTOCOL OVERVIEWS
Each Overview includes step-by-step procedures and reference material for approximately 50 cell culture protocols. You can view one or more narrated videos and main text section for each protocol along with any related text or images. The time allocation for each step as well as the total time necessary for each protocol are clearly defined. Print a protocol section for future reference by selecting a listing in the Print Protocols section. Next

MAIN TEXT SECTIONS
The contents of the Main Text sections let you view topics in six subject areas. The multicolored links let you navigate to related text, tables, illustrations, glossary definitions, listings for commercial suppliers, and references. View thumbnails of images and click on them to display larger images. Next

GRAPHIC RESOURCES
The Graphics section contains selections from hundreds of figures in the Atlas of Illustrations and videos of cell culture techniques. Each video selection includes links to a narrated movie, the main protocol section, narration text, and related videos. Next

In the Atlas of Illustrations section, you can browse through microphotographs of cells or view illustrations of equipment, safety techniques, and a variety of tables. Next

SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS
The Supplemental Materials section includes tips and listings for trouble-shooting, reagents, commercial suppliers, glossary, references, and additional reading sources. The Reagent Appendix displays usage guidelines for more than 100 materials. Next

COMMERICAL SUPPLIERS
Commerical Suppliers and Other Resources section gives you information about contacting companies that sell the materials you need. Follow links from the main text sections to find addresses and product lists for hundreds of companies.Top
