Raja Vaidyanathan

Raja Vaidyanathan, B.L., M.A., M.Ed., has a broad range of experience in the teaching of statistics. He has been an instructor at several schools in India and in Canada, including Madras University, Ryerson Polytechnic University, Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo. For over 15 years, he was at Conestoga College where, in 1992, he was presented with the Aubrey Hagar Distinguished Teaching Award.

His activities outside of the classroom have included serving as Co-ordinator of Mathematics and of the International Program at Conestoga, acting as Chief Examiner in Statistics for the Canadian Society of Management Accountants, and managing the Statistics Research Section at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Ganesh Vaidyanathan

Ganesh Vaidyanathan, B. A., M. A., M. A. Sc., PhD, is an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Business Administration at Brandon University. He received his B. A. from the University of Toronto in 1977 and the M. A. (Economics), M. A. Sc. and PhD (Management Sciences) degrees from the University of Waterloo in 1980, 1984 and 1991 respectively.

His academic background has led him to develop teaching and research interests in Finance, Operations Management, Management Accounting and Business Strategy. Dr. Vaidyanathan currently teaches the Finance, Production and Operations Management and Business Strategy courses at Brandon University. In addition, he also teaches Business Statistics, Quantitative Methods, Investments, Risk Management and Cost Management.

Prior to joining the faculty at Brandon University in January 1991, Dr. Vaidyanathan was a lecturer at Wilfrid Laurier University and Sessional Instructor at the University of Waterloo and Conestoga College. In all he has over 17 years of teaching experience at the Post-Secondary level. At Brandon, he assumed the Chairmanship of the Department in 1993, and was responsible for restructuring the then existing three year business program. In 1994, he developed the proposal to introduce the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program which was subsequently adopted by the university in 1997. Presently, he and his colleagues are developing a Management Information Systems program for Brandon University.

In addition to teaching and administration, Dr. Vaidyanathan is also developing a program of research spanning finance, production and management accounting. He recently co-authored a chapter, '"Lean Manufacturing" in the book Guide to Cost Management edited by Barry Brinker and published by John Wiley. He is now at work on a project investigating the impact of Total Quality Management practices on management control systems.
