Martin Harper


Martin Harper recently left SKC, Inc., a manufacturer of air sampling equipment, to become an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has qualifications in geology, pollution control, environmental science and analytical chemistry, and, in 1990, he received his PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (U.K.) for his research into novel air sampling methods. He is a Chartered Chemist (U.K.) and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (U.S.A.). He is active on several committees of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the American Society for Testing and Materials and the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO). His interests include air quality and exposure assessment, sampling methods for both gases and vapours and aerosols, analytical techniques and quality assurance, and laboratory accreditation.
