Angus Macdonald is Professor of Actuarial Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, where he also gained his PhD. He qualified FFA in 1984 while working in the life insurance industry, later returning to academic work. He is director of the Genetics and Insurance Research Centre, and has other research interests in life insurance modelling and solvency.
