Slide 24: The very dense Hagenia Forest 2600-3500 meters above sea-level on the southeastern slopes of Visoke volcano (see Locator Map). The Hagenia woodland is very wet and misty.  It receives over seventy-two inches of rainfall annually particularly in this zone which is at the tropical inversion level where moisture precipitates out heavily.  Trees are covered with Sphagnum mosses and other epiphytes and lianas. The dense groundcover also includes the Veronia bush with its waxy yellow flowers and the Hypericum lanceolatum.
