- The trigonometry chapters, 7, 8, and 9 have been revised to introduce radians and the trigonometry functions early to increase student familiarity with this way of looking at trigonometric functions, essential to calculus, and to make it easy for instructors to skip right triangle trig in cases where students have already covered it in prior courses
- The authors rewrote chapter 8.1 and 8.2 entirely in degrees so instructors who wish to start with right triangle trigonometry can now start with those chapters, before moving onto essential material in chapter 7.
