Description

This interactive manual presents lab activities in a clear, concise, and writing style. It contains activities and experiments that enhances the ability to both visualize anatomical structures and understand physiological topics. Lab exercises are designed in a way that require readers to first apply information they learned and then to critically evaluate it.
  • Minimal text.  Many of the current competing lab manuals merely duplicate much of the text and illustrations found in their accompanying textbooks, therefore making the lab manuals lengthy and as a result more costly to students.  The Allen & Harper/A & P Lab Manual will keep descriptive text to a minimum and will not just pick up chunks of text from Tortora/PAP 10e.  Lab is not the right place for students to read through pages of lecture-type text, leaving them little to no time to perform experiments, answer questions and write up lab reports.
  • Self-contained Lab Units.  All pedagogical features will be complete for each Unit, including Lab Reports. This will help keep students focused on the topics learned in that lab.
  • Variety of Questions and Activities. Includes fill-in-the blank, art labeling, coloring, identification exercises and Critical Thinking Questions -- thought-provoking, open-ended questions appearing at the end of each Lab Unit that will summarize concepts learned in that lab.
  • Illustration Program. Many of the figures will be picked up from Tortora/PAP 10e. Labels will be removed from several figures for exercises/activities, other figures will be revised into a “coloring-book” format for coloring exercises.
  • Skeletal Atlas Photos. Picked up from the Tortora/Photographic Atlas, these real life photos of the skeleton are an invaluable tool for students.
  • Answer Key.  Answers to fill-in the blanks, labeling and identification exercises found at the back of each Unit for self-grading.
