Exercise 3.2 Creating a New Domain Tree in the Forest-Step #3 in Exercise 3.2 should instruct you to choose the option of "Domain Tree in an ExistingForest".
The Exercise actually walks through the process of creating and
entirely new domain forest, instead of a new tree in an existing forest.
Step #3 in Exercise 3.2 should instruct you to choose the option of "Domain
Tree in an ExistingForest". The next step in the Wizard will ask you for
information related to the name of the forest in which you want to create a
new domain tree. You'll also need to have connectivity to an Enterprise
server domain controller in order for the Wizard to be able to verify the
domain.
