Nonprofit Communications Report is a monthly electronic publication for those who work in communication or public relations roles for any type of nonprofit organization, including professionals working at or with health organizations, associations, colleges/universities, schools, youth and social service agencies, arts and cultural organizations and more.

About the Editor

Scott Stevenson’s aim for the past two decades has been to provide nonprofits and associations throughout the U.S. and Canada with “great ideas and practical solutions.”

Stevenson is founder and president of Stevenson, Inc, an Iowa-based publishing company that established six monthly newsletters, dozens of “how-to” manuals and several online events all geared toward helping nonprofits and associations achieve success in fields such as fundraising, major gifts, volunteer management, communications management and membership management.

John Wiley & Sons acquired Stevenson’s publications in 2012, and he continues on as editor of the six subscriber newsletters: Successful Fundraising, Nonprofit Communications Report, The Major Gifts Report, The Membership Management Report, The Volunteer Management Report, and Special Events Galore.

Prior to establishing his company in 1993, Stevenson had twenty-plus years’ experience in fundraising and nonprofit management which included positions with The American Lung Association of Iowa, Culver Stockton College (Canton, MO), Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, IA), the statewide Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (Des Moines, IA), and Briar Cliff University (Sioux City, IA), where he served as Vice President for eight years before launching Stevenson, Inc.

Stevenson is a graduate of Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, IA) and has served as a volunteer, member and/or board member of several of local, regional and national organizations. He currently serves on the President’s Advisory Council of his alma mater, Buena Vista University, serves on the Board of the statewide Iowa Parks Foundation, which is chaired by the Governor of Iowa, and is a member of 1st Presbyterian Church (Sioux City, IA).

Stevenson has also served as fundraising counsel to nonprofit organizations and lectured at regional and national conferences.
