Textbook Rental Terms

John Wiley & Sons, Inc. and/or its affiliates ("Wiley") offers You (referred to as “You” or “Your”) the ability to rent textbooks through Wiley.com ("Textbook Rentals") subject to the following conditions (the "Rental Terms"). If You choose to rent a textbook through Wiley.com, You accept the Rental Terms. PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THESE RENTAL TERMS, AS THEY AFFECT YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS.

Your use of the Wiley.com website is also governed by our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Book Condition

Textbook Rentals through Wiley.com, may be a new textbook or a used textbook in acceptable rental condition, as described in our FAQs.

Returning Textbooks Before the End of the Rental Period

During the first 14 days of the rental period, You may return the Textbook Rentals, in exchange for a full refund. You must indicate that You are returning Your Textbook Rental at Your My Accounts page during this 14-day period and Wiley must receive Your return within 21 days after Your original order to process a refund.  Shipping charges will not be refunded. If You purchased a bundle or set as part of Your rental (including digital access) the full bundle/set must be returned.  “Partial” returns or refunds will not be allowed.

Returning Textbooks at the End of the Rental Period

Textbook Rentals through Wiley.com, shall be returned on or before the due date specified on the My Accounts page on Wiley.com.

When Wiley receives a returned textbook, Wiley will determine in its sole discretion if it is in acceptable rental condition. Items received with any markings/writing or in otherwise damaged condition will incur additional charges. Other damages include but are not limited to water/liquid damage, loose/falling out/missing/torn/taped pages, torn or taped cover, or spine damage. If an item is not postmarked by the due date or received in usable condition, you will be charged up to 125% of list price + tax, and the item will not be returned.

Automatic Purchase

If your rental is not marked as in transit by the new due date, it will be automatically converted into a sale and You will be charged up to 125% of list price + tax, and the textbook will be Yours to keep.

Methods of Payment

You authorize us to charge any amounts owed by You under these Rental Terms to the card You used at the time of the Textbook Rental, if such card is no longer valid, to any other card we have on file in Your Wiley.com account. During the rental period, You agree to maintain in Your Wiley.com account at least one valid card that expires no earlier than 45 days after the date on which Your rental is due. Wiley reserves the right to block or cancel orders and suspend or terminate your account if You incur outstanding and unpaid fees for Textbook Rentals and we are not able to charge such fees to any card on file in Your Wiley.com account.

Title and Risk of Loss

Title to the Textbook Rentals remain with the party from which You rented the textbook. If You elect to purchase a textbook, or if Wiley charges You the buyout price because you did not return the Textbook Rentals in acceptable rental condition or before the due date, title to the textbook will pass to You when we charge You the buyout price.

For returns from You to Wiley, risk of loss passes to Wiley upon our receipt of the textbook from the carrier.

Availability

Textbook Rentals are currently available only to customers with shipping addresses in the United States (including the continental United States, Hawaii and Alaska, but excluding Puerto Rico and U.S. territories).
